November 17, 1945 - November 19, 2020
Willie Bernice (Clark) Wells, known to most as "Cookie" was the second to the last child blessed to the union of Fred Douglas Clark and Ellen "Irene" Springer o November 17, 1945 by Dr. Milton in Inkster, MI. Willie was given back to Christ after birth at Second Baptist Church where she served on the Junior Usher Board, then she attended Cathedral Faith, Holy City (Choir) and then glorified New Birth Baptist Church serving the Nurses Guild until the Lord called her home. She attended Inkster Public Schools and was Proud Viking who was joined in matrimony to Curtis Gee Sr., and to that union, two children were born: Curtis Jr. (PeeWee) and Baletha (NIta Ball). Cookie enjoyed spending time letting us run wild, swim, and sleeping on Belle Isle , because a lot of us at the time didn't have air conditioning. We spent many weekends at the Jolly Rogers Drive-In, where we were told we could go play and "Don't come back till the movies starts!" Guess what? We didn't! Cookie definitely enjoyed bowling with her daughter (Nita) and her sister (Gene) as the "Unique Sisters" of bowling team that rocked! Our mom was a single mom, so much so, and was a very good mother at that! She loved her children dearly and could slice you to the bone, real quick...and often did, she didn't play. Those who knew "Cookie" know why we loved us some "Cookie"...we all do. Cookie loved her children so much, she did somethin no one else did. Cookie enjoyed personally making scrap books for all of her descendants. From birth till she could no more. They hold wonderful memories. Cookie tried hard to stay here, but God said, enough! She was preceded in death by both parents (Fred and Irene), her husbands: Curtis Sr. and Thomas Wells, her siblings: Helen (Ernest), RoseMary (Jack), Joyce (Joe), Earl (Mary), and Herald (Rose Mae). She leaves to cherish her memory her two children: Curtis (Tammy) and Baletha (Carl); eight grandchildren: Dean (Shala), Quintin, Travon, Carlvel, Dejuana, Cortez, Curtis III, and Keyanna; 20 great-great grandchildren, one brother: Schelly (Melba); one sister: Kathleen (Jean); three besties: Bertha Carter, Roseanna Wynn, and Pat Clark; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
