Ora B. Johnson

October 8, 1945 - September 19, 2019

Ora B. Johnson, affectionately known as "Leaky", was born on Ocotber 8, 1945, in Decatur, Alabama to the late Edward Lee Johnson Sr. and Catherine Johnson-Scoot. She was nurtured by her caring step-father, Elbert Scott, who preceded her in death. Ora was the third oldest of nine children, four of which preceded her in death, William Clifford Johnson, Donna Ruth Houze-Mosley, Katheleen Savage and Rose Marie Scott-Cooper. She resided in Decatur, Alabama until 1971. Most of her childhood was spent in Decatur, Alabama where she attended Westside Elementary School and Lakeside High School. During her school years, she participated in baseball and other sports. She also had a special interest in mathematics. Ora believed in making good use of everything and wasting nothing. This was especially true when it came time to cooking and cleaning. She would make the most delicious meals from scratch and believed in cleanliness was next to godliness. Ora was family-oriented; family meant everything to her! She placed more focus and priority on family and relationships than on work and money. In Ora's eyes, her family (especially her children) was the highest currency. Ora leaves to cherish her memory five children: Stephon Johnson (Tara), Charles Phonore (Kimberly), LaHoma Johnson, William Johnson (ShaVonna), Gary Johnson (Angela), nineteen grandchildren (Eugene, who preceded her in death), sixteen great-grandchildren, a sister and brothers: Nette Garth (Calvin), Charles Walter Johnson, Clayton Johnson (Lori), Edward Johnson, and Nathan Johnson (Cynthia Lynn), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and family who loved her kind spirit. Ora was young at heart and will be truly missed.
