William Joiner Obituary

William Lee Joiner, Jr. was born on November 21, 1958, to William and Thelma Joiner Sr. in Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest of two siblings, Walter C. Jones, Jr., all of whom preceded him in death until his heavenly transition from this life on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Raised in a loving Christian home, William's life was guided by the principles of kindness and compassion.

Family and friends affectionally knew William as "Billy" He attended Taylor public schools and proudly graduated from Taylor Center High School in 1976.

He then embarked on a journey of service, proudly serving his country in the US Army. Following his military service, William found fulfillment in various roles, including his work as a line assembler at Ford automotive and his passion for cooking.

William was a great man of God. William attended Cathedral of Faith Church in Inkster, MI under the leadership of the late Bishop Herbert Hinkle, he was called by God to the ministry. He was baptized by the late Bishop H. Jones, pastor of New Hope church in Detroit, Ml and received the Holy Ghost at Mother Braxton home, he later became a member of Christ Temple Apostolic church of Westland, MI under the leadership of the late Elder Samuel S. B. Ware, He fellowship at Amity Baptist Church in Inkster, MI, Pastor Anthony Eaddy and a host of other churches.

William's impact extended far beyond the church walls. Known for his belief in treating others according to the word of God, he touched the lives of many with his positive, humble, and encouraging demeanor. He was well loved by family and friends leaving an impact on all who knew him. His impeccable sense of style, always matching from head to toe.

In 1992, William Lee Joiner Jr. married Evangelist Clara M. Gray-Joiner, becoming a devoted and loving husband. Together, they embarked on a journey of love, faith, and service. They showed God's love, placing each other's needs above their own, loving their family and their faith in God at the forefront of their lives. Their union was a shining example of God's blessings, guiding them until William's passing.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Clara M. Gray-Joiner of Inkster, Ml., his devoted daughter Joi Joiner of Detroit, Ml., loving stepdaughters Kena Gray (Ray) of Warren, MI, Marcia Banks (Lawrence) of Detroit, MI, Sonya Gray of Redford, MI, and stepsons Calvin Hayes (Shondra) of Inkster, MI, James Hayes of Inkster, MI, Dorrall Hayes of Inkster, MI, and Melvin Gray Jr. (Shavon) of St. Joseph, MN. He is also survived by his cousins James E. Robinson IlI of Inkster, Michigan, Wanda Glover of Birmingham, Alabama, Marcia Major of Tucker, Georgia, Michelle Robinson McQueen of Southfield, MI, one brother Walter C. Jones, Jr. a.k.a Porky, Harvey Leonard Robinson (Uncle), Yvonne Young (Cousin), Kaylee Marie Gray (Granddaughter), Darryl L. Gray, Jr.(Grandson) Annabell Palmer (Mother -in-law) who all preceded him in death, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
