Rosetta Hunter Obituary

Rosetta, affectionately known as Rose, was born on December 27th, 1927 in Augustaville,  Alabama. She was the first child of John and Lucille Jossie and had four siblings. Her parents and three brothers, John, Otis, and Louis (LJ), have all passed away. Due to her limited education, she left home at the age of fourteen and worked as a domestic for most of her life. She retired in 2007 at the age of 80.

In 1950, Rose met and married James Hunter. Although she loved children, she never had any of her own. In 1980, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Greater Grace Temple, under the pastorship of Elder David Ellis. She affirmed her belief by being baptized three times.

Rose would often tell stories of her childhood and family members that were so entertaining, they would have you laughing until tears fell.

At the time of her passing, Rose is survived by her sister Ruby Hush of New Jersey, her cousin and caregiver Etta Wooten, who has been caring for her since 2009, many nieces, nephews, and five generations of cousins.
