Neil Haney Obituary

Neil Edward Haney was born December 4th, 1944 to the late Georgia Haney-Dykes of New Port, Tennessee. He was called home November 12th, 2020 at 12:15 pm after a lengthy illness. He leaves to cherish his devoted wife, Sheila L. Haney and their five children from a previous marriage.

Neil accepted Christ as a young man and his strong belief served him well. He devoted his life generously serving others whenever and wherever he could. He served as Deacon, he sung in the Male and Mass Choir at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. In addition, he served with Deacon John James Butler known as "Dad Butler" in the Media Ministry.

Neil and Sheila worshipped together for 42 years until her lost his battle with lung disease. Neil graduated from Tanner High School in New Port, Tennessee May 28th, 1962. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1968. Neil and Sheila met in 1978 at the Cadillac Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan. Neil being Sheila's Line Repairman and after many years of courtship married on January 30, 1988. Neil and Sheila worked together at three different plants before they retired.

Family members who preceded him in death; his mother, Georgia Haney-Dykes; two brothers, William Wick Haney and Kenney Haney (Bernice); our sisters, Jane Carter, Cora Sue Singletary, Betty Jean Robinson, and JoAnn Swagerty; one brother-in-law Albert T. Hill Jr. aka Cookie.

Neil leaves to cherish his legacy and loving memories; his devoted wife Sheila L. Haney; five children, Cedric Haney, LaShawn Maypin (Michael), Lucretia Fabro, Dorian Haney (Shyra) and Deidra Haney, two sisters, Shirley Woods (Levi deceased), Detroit, Otelia Woods, Newport, Tennessee; three sister-in-laws; Mattes Lee Ord (Robert deceased), Fort Worth, Texas; Deborah Faye Hill, Westland, Michigan,and Saundra Rayshelle Little, Romulus, Michigan. He also leaves 27 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
