Charles Edward Schropshire Sr. "Butch" was born on June 17, 1948, to Julia Alice Schropshire and Jesse James Moore, they both preceded him in death. Butch was raised by his grandmother Martha Jane Schropshire, who also preceded him in death.
Butch attended Inkster High School and received his GED. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967, serving his country until 1972. He was stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virgina. There he met, fell in love and married Barbara Jean Williams. They had three children: Carlton, Tania, and Charles Jr. After returning to Inkster, Michigan with his family, he joined the United States Army Reserve in 1974 and started working for Ford Motor Company. He later retired from both.
Church played a huge role in his life and helped set the foundation of his core values. Butch accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He attended Womack Temple Methodist Church in Inkster, Michigan as a child and young man. Later as an adult, he attended Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and became a Deacon.
Butch was known for loving his family. He was the most laid-back guy you would ever meet. No matter the situation, he always remained cool, calm, and collected. He enjoyed helping people. Whether it was giving someone a ride to the store or a doctor's appointment, and even giving someone a place to stay for a few months. Butch loved going to the casino, cooking, watching football and cowboys, taking road trips, playing bid whist, dominos, and poker.
On Sunday, March 3, 2024 Butch was called home to be with the Lord.
Butch leaves to cherish memoires with his wife, Barbara Jean of fifty-four years; three children, Carlton (Olivia), Tania (Jack Jr.), Charles Jr., grandchildren; Tyann, Carl, Sarah, Dezerae; four bonus grandchildren, eleven great-gradchildren, two siblings, Cheyenne Johnson and Terry Moore; a bonus brother, Robert Schropshire Sr., a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
