Minnie Donald Obituary

Mother Minnie Lee Donald born Minnie Lee Roberts, in Lauderdale Route 2 (Meridian, Mississippi) on March 15, 1917, was the oldest child of twelve children to her parents Johnny and Velma B. Roberts who preceded her in death. Mother Donals has one surviving sister, Bertha Moore, who resides in Meridian, Mississippi.

Mother Donald was joined in Holy Matrimony to Deacon Lonnie Donald at the age of 18 on October 27, 1935. Through their union, Mother Donald and Deacon Donald were the proud parents of seventeen children.

At the age of twelve, Mother Donald joined Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized on a glorious Sunday morning on September 1929.Mother Donald served the Lord faithfully in several capacities and honored her lifelong vow to the Lord. Mother Donald was a true servant leader through her continued love and care for others. Her servitude led her to complete various heroic deeds and she was richly blessed by God for her "service above self" ideology.

In her early age, Mother Minnie Donald was an entrepreneur. While her husband served in the military, she consistently sought opportunities to sustain the family while he was away serving the country.

Mother Donald and Deacon Donald moved to Michigan in 1947 where they continued to build their family. Mother Donald remained steadfast in her faith as a member at Fourth St. Baptist Church. Later relocated and joined Beverly Road COGIC then Saint's City Church of God in Christ in Romulus, MI where she remained a diligent and faithful member. In the mid 60z she was appointed as a Church Mother. She served the ministry for over 50 years including her role as the church's custodian, president of the Pastor's Aid Committee and she was a faithful Prayer Warrior.

Deacon Donald and Mother Donald, were married for over 50 years and he preceded her in death where they had to endure seeing many of their children precede them in death, Lonnie B, William C., Mary Helen, Horatio, Roosevelt (Buddy), Reatha Jane, John R. Lewis, Joy A. and Leo. God sustained her and gave her the strength to make it through every heartbreak of losing a child.
