Mark Batie Obituary

Mark Batie, was born September 7, 1951 in Highland Park, Michigan. He is the second of seven children born to Jones and Dorothy Batie.
Mark grew up in Inkster, Michigan, attending the Westwood Community School District. He graduated from Robichaud High School in 1969. After graduating high school he attended Eastern Michigan University for two years.
Mark became a Jehovah's Witness early in life. In his later years, he worshipped at the Kingdom Hall on Wayne Road in Romulus, Michigan.
In July of 1975, he met the love of his life, Debra Jefferies. The two were married in December of 1979, to this union, two sons were born.
A man that loved his hats and never met a stranger, Mark enjoyed spending time with family, listening to his oldies but goodies, playing cards, in years past acting as an amateur DJ on the stage he built in his basement, working crossword puzzles, in ink, (he never made a mistake) and experimenting in the kitchen. He was also a history buff and was interested in numerology and astrology "what's your sign?" His favorite pastime /sport was baseball. He spent twenty years coaching and umpping for the Romulus Little League teams. After becoming a grandfather and his oldest grandson started playing T-Ball, you could often find him outside (weather permitting) giving him tips to help him become a better player. He also loved Christmas and giving and receiving gifts, not just on Christmas, but all throughout the year he would think of some reason to give you something, even if it was just your favorite candy.
Preceding him in death his father, Jones Batie and brother Carey Batie.
Mark leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 36 years, Debra Batie; sons Mark and Julian Batie of Romulus, Michigan; grandsons Mark Batie Jr., and Aaron Drakeford; mother Dorothy Batie; sisters Gloria Sims (Earnest) of Atlanta, Georgia and Joan Calhoun (Randy) of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers, Brian Batie of Singapore, Alan Batie (Wendy) of Rome, Georgia, Joseph Batie of San Diego, California; sisters-in-law, Darcel Lee (Howard), Rhonda Jefferies both of Romulus, Michigan, Pamela Lee (James) of Lincoln Park, Michigan and Kim Foster (Derrick) of Taylor, Michigan; a special aunt and uncle, Yvonne and Leonard Miller of Detroit, Michigan, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and geat nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
