Lela Lawrence Obituary

Lela Mae Lawrence was the second child born to the late Oscar and Geraldine Lee on May 7, 1941 in Lambert, Mississippi. She moved to Romulus, Michigan with her parents as a small child and attended Romulus School District Schools.

At the age of 17, she was untied in Holy Matrimony to Wesley Lawrence Jr. on June 21, 1958. To this union was born 10 children.

The Lawrence's moved to Inkster, MI where they attended Greater Bethlehem Temple of Inkster under the leadership of the late Bishop Wilson Roberts. There she was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. She was a Sunday School Teacher and catered to the food necessities of the church (she was known for her famous rolls.) She loved attending the PCAF Conventions with her best friend (Ruby Taylor).

She enjoyed cooking and camping with her family and enjoyed watching movies with her daughters. Lela loved to sing and listen to Rance Allen and the Winans. Her favorite song was Take me to the Kin by Tamela Mann.

Her sister Alvera, brother Raymond and grandson Jaylen preceded her in death.

Lela Mae Lawrence made her transition on June 18, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband, Wesley Lawrence Jr., eight sons; Kenny (Rebecca), Lonnie, Raphael, Doran (Janet), Aaron (Lynn), Steven (Brenda), Kevin (Angie), Wesley (Ayana), one stepson, James; two daughters, Rhonda, Leah (Bernard); one stepdaughter, Delores; one guardianship, Yolanda; sister; Roxanne; brother Oscar (Brenda), godson (Torontez), 50 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
