Joyce Jennett Taylor was born January 31, 1966, in Tutwiler, Mississippi to CL Townsend and Leona Taylor, Joyce was baptized at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Church under the leadership of Rev. Maurice Jones. Joyce attended the Grand Rapids Public School and followed her creative passion by participating in the SECOM program. Her creativity was second to none. In middle school, she created an art piece titled "Peter and the Wolf", which was showcased in a nationwide youth art show. She received a handwritten letter from the President of the United States for her accomplishments.
Not only was Joyce a gifted artist, but she was also a very talented seamstress. While attending SECOM, Joyce was instrumental in naming the sewing class 'Colorful Threads'. The group was also involved in community outreach programs where they fed the seniors and provided clothing for the homeless community. The clothes created by Joyce were often on display and modeled throughout Michigan. Joyce married her soulmate Willie Louis Plair il. She made her wedding dress, the bridesmaid dresses, and the beautiful flower arrangements. She was an outgoing mom and kept her kids involved in many activities. She was their biggest cheadleader in life. Joyce participated in a program called GROW, where she learned how to operate a business. Joyce used her knowledge, skills, and abilities to create multiple income streams for her family. She was a hair stylist, daycare business owner for over 20 years, and the creator of Taylor's Creations LLC, along with her sister-in-law. The services included wedding designing, interior decorating, seamstress, and so much more. Joyce had a love for Goodwill shopping. She had an eye for looking at ordinary things and transforming them into beautiful treasures. Joyce was blessed to have some lifelong friends. Her girlfriends Debra Taylor and Shawn Chinn Carter have become an extension of her family. She loved them and they loved her. When COVID took many people away from the church, Zoom presented an opportunity for Joyce to become closer to Christ. She became a faithful member of her childhood church home, The Church of God Pentecostal. She regularly attended the weekly church services and built relationships with her sisters and brothers in Christ. Joyce had a love for everyone and made everyone feel special.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Plair Il, father CL Townsend, mother Leona Taylor, father and mother in law Willie Plair Sr and Emma Plair, brothers; Willie Patterson, Leroy, Jessie, and CL Townsend Jr, sisters; Callie Alexander, Dorothy Townsend, and Ruth Ann Townsend, brothers in law, James Woods Jr, Rickie Seymour, Tommie and Darryl Plair sisters in-law; Aurthina Plair and Cassandra Douglas. She leaves to cherish her memories; her son Willie Plair Taylor Ill, her daughter Tyneshia Taylor, grandchildren; Brandi Plait, Ruby Jones, and Sevari 'Malik' Walton Plair, siblings; Shirley Woods, Mary, Ruby, and Jackle Taylor, Peggy Spicer Seymour, Michael Tracy, Taylor, Brenda (Daniel) Jeffery, and Tracy Taylor, all of Grand Rapids MI. Clinton, Richard, Tracy, and Jerry Townsend aller-betrolt MI, brother-in-law Lamont Plair of Grand Rapids, Mi, and a host of nieces-nephews, cousins, and friends.
