Johnny Davis Obituary

Johnny Lee Davis Sr was born November 5, 1938 in Americus GA. He graduated from Sumter High School in 1958. He entered Paradise on March 27, 2024.  Johnny fathered nine children and took on raising one of his grandchildren.  As a father, Johnny took on many jobs to feed and support his family.  He worked for General Motors, retiring after 31 years in August 1995.  Never wanting to be idle in his retirement, he went back to work as a janitor, brought a truck to make deliveries and help people move.  He worked 19 1/2 years for Hertz as a Lot Attendant and Courtesy Van driver at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and other small jobs.  He liked hearing the music of Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Sam Cooke, Charlie Pride and Otis Redding just to name a few. He was a religious man that believed in God, but he didn't have a church home. He liked to listen to baseball on the radio and watch college sports.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Davis and Jessie Lee Ingram, and siblings Emma Lee, Beulah Mae, James Arthur, twins Fred and Freddie, daughters Sandra and Annieta and son Brian.

He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Gwendolyn Davis and their three children, daughter Deyonta Davis, son DeShawn Davis (Akeiba) and daughter Dalonna Davis and Shakeira Davis (granddaughter). Son Johnny Davis Jr (Sheila), daughter Brenda Richardson, Son Jeffrey Davis (Rhonda), grandchildren LaTeicia, Scott, Anthony, Johnna, Batrease, Davon, Lailah, Samirah and Simeon, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces Janilda and Shundra and a host of other family members and friends.
