Johnnie Bonner Obituary

Mr. Johnnie Robert Bonner Jr. was born on April 9, 1959, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Johnnie Bonner Sr. and Helen Bonner. He was the third oldest of four children. Johnnie accepted Christ at an early age.

Johnnie received his education from both Westwood in Dearborn Heights and Inkster Public School Districts. Attending both districts made him quite the social guy. He graduated from Inkster High School in 1977. He later completed medical courses and earned a certification in phlebotomy.

His church affiliations were Cathedral of Faith, First Missionary Baptist Church, and Greater Grace Temple in Taylor, Michigan under the Bishop Gary Harper. He loved reading the Bible every morning and was well versed in scripture. He attended Sunday School and enjoyed serving on the Usher Board.

As a child, he was a paperboy that traveled to London, England which ignited his passion for traveling. Johnnie had a friendly, outgoing personality and never met a stranger. This aided him in his entrepreneurial endeavors. He had a flourishing car detailing business while living in Atlanta as well as a floral shop. Later he helped the Jehovah Witnesses build a home in Jamaica. His greatest pleasures were spending time with his family, grilling, and enjoying classic cars. He loved watching sports and spending quality time with his mom, Ms. Helen. Johnnie was definitely a "Jack of all Trades" he could master just about anything...he was the handyman's handyman with a smile!

Johnnie was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Bonne Sr. and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Johnnie peacefully made his transition surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Corewell Hospital in Wayne, Michigan. Johnnie leaves a wonderful legacy of great memories to one daughter, Tameka Hendricks and son, Brian Bonner of Detroit, MI; loving mother: Helen Bonner of Inkster, Michigan, one brother, Terry Bonner (Veronia) of Monroe, North Carolina, two sisters, Bonita Harris of Inkster, Michigan and Lola Burgines (Rev. Jiles) of Helena, Alabama, and a host of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
