Mrs. Helen Marie Spears

Helen Spears, born as Helen Smith on June 12, 1933, in Orrville, Alabama. As a young girl Helen Endured the obstacles in life but always remained optimistic., determined, and humbled. Helen gave birth to eight beautiful children; Charlie Mae Olds (deceased), Johnny Olds (deceased), Alice Olds, Lorenzo Olds (deceased), Earnest Olds, Mary Smith, Wanda Bivens, and Sallie Talton.

In 1989, Helen married the love of her life Oliver Spears (deceased) in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Messiah Baptist Church. Helen was a woman like no other. She embodied the essence of a true lady; poised, gentle, caring, and straight forward. Helen was dedicated to her family and her work. She worked for Mettropolitan Hospital as a Sanitation technician for over 20 years. Still, Helen made sure she lived life to the fullest. Joining organizations such as the Elks Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed the simple things in life like dinner parties, baking and traveling with her family and friends. She might have been the quietest in the room, but she was always ready to join in with laughter and wise tales. Helen Spears passed away peacefully a home surrounded by family on March 27, 2024. She is also proceeded in death by her siblings; Alfonzo Smith, Sadie Givhan, Deforest Falls, Ruth Merchant, Mattie McKinley, Johnnie Fails, Louise Landary, and her grandchildren Eric Olds, India Bivens, and Jaquarrie Garrett.

Helen leaves behind her siblings; Ida Johnson, Willie Fails, Hattie Johnson, Eloise Jones, Josephine Jones, and Betty Ellis, generations of grandchildren, family and friends.
