Elizabeth Dawson Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Dawson, affectionately known as "Dump" passed away peacefully on May 28, 2023, in Canton, Michigan. Born on November 4, 1949, in Chicago Illinois, Elizabeth was the cherished daughter of the late Aulis Dawson and Ophelia Jackson.

Elizabeth was a proud graduate of the Detroit Public School System where she developed her passion for learning and education. She shared this passion throughout her life, often sharing her love of reading and learning with those around her.

In her professional life, Elizabeth was a dedicated home healthcare worker who provided care and support to her patients for many years. Her generosity and compassion were evident in her work, as she always went above and beyond to endure the comfort and well-being of those she served. Elizabeth was also an active member of various associations, further demonstrating her commitment to her community and those in need. 

Outside of work, Elizabeth had a deep love for music and enjoyed attending concerts and events with friends and family. A voracious reader, she could often be found with a book in hand, exploring new worlds and ideas. She was also a devoted daughter, mother, aunt and friend. Always making time for her loved ones and cherishing the moments spent with them.

Preceding her in death: Mother Ophelia Jackson, Father Aulis Dawson, Three Brothers William, Tommy and Christopher Jackson, Two Sisters Norma Parks and Eleanor Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her son and daughter Anthony and Shona Dawson, Grand-children Shakyra and Anjali Dawson, 3 great grandchildren Sir Ryan, Monroe and Matt Jr., Sister Diane Jackson, Nieces Linda Jones, Brenda Jennings, Gwendolyn Riley, Tanya Jones, Delonya Lee, Wanda Hughes, Nephews James and Clinton Parks, Harold and Donald Brown. And a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Her warm presence, generous spirit and passionate nature will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

As the famous quote by Maya Angelou states, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Elizabeth's impact on those around her will be felt for years to come, as her generosity, spirit and passion touched the lives of many.

In celebrating Elizabeth's life, let us remember the joy, laughter, and love she brought to each of our lives. Her memory will forever be a shining example of the power of kindness, compassion and determination.
