Craig Joshua Obituary

I, Craig Steven Joshua, decided to write my own obituary. I was the oldest son born to Marjorie Johnson on April 12, 1959 in Detroit, MI. I was raised in my grandfather's church, Joshua Temple C.O.G.I.C. I accepted Christ as my Lord and savior at an early age under the leadership of my grandfather, whom I consider to be my father, the late Elder Willie James Joshua.

I attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Mumford High School. I joined the armed forces shortly after high school and served in the United States Marine Corps. I later attended Wayne County Community College and maintained my status on the Dean's list. I attended various trade schools and obtained a state certified motor vehicle mechanic certificate; specializing in engine repair and brake systems. I have always been mechanically inclined, I'm a bad man.

I have always enjoyed entertaining family and friends. I love all types of music, but jazz is my favorite genre. I like to make people laugh. I always thought I was pretty funny. I would watch movies all night at home and at the drive-in until the sun came up. I enjoy playing chess and dominoes, but my greatest passion is fishing. I love being on the water, preferably on a boat. I love nature and I would often take my wife with me to witness the sunrise and the sunset. Another passion has always been working on cars and driving all types of vehicles.

I have multiple jobs, mostly related to driving others. My commercial driver's license allowed me to work in transportation and one of my absolute favorite positions was at Comfort and Care Transportations, where I would transport disabled individuals to scheduled programs. I received so much fulfilment in helping others and brightening up their day. I also held multiple positions at the Detroit Metro Airport which included: aircraft fueler, airport security, and a driver for budget rent-a-car. I had a good life.

To my loved ones and closet friends, you know who you are and what you meant to me. I loved and cherished you all, so hold close all the great times we spent together. Pastor Kellen Brooks told us that "a legacy of faith is the greatest thing you can leave your children." and I never forgot that.

These last few years, I have endured so much pain with my medical issues, surgeries and hospitalizations. I've had some heavy burdens, trials and tribulations, but never lost my faith. The love, prayers, and support of my family and friends made it easier. I have remained strong and determined, but my battle ended on June 2, 2019 when my beautiful heavenly journey began. So loved ones, I am at peace.

God bless my beautiful family, I leave you to cherish my memory. My loving and devoted wife, Linda Joshua; my lovely mother, Marjorie Johnson (John); and my two brothers, Keith Johnson (Kimberly) and David Johnson (Sharon). I was blessed with three beautiful children that mean the world to me; my sons Craig Adams (Angel) and Carlos Joshua (Lydia) and my baby girl, Cierra Joshua. I have six grandchildren: Ka'Von, Ka'Lonna, Ka'Lynn, Car'mea, Carlie, and Car'laya. I leave four step children, Naquelchia Harper, Sherman Harper, Teaunte Harper, Takeya Harper and an additional thirteen grandchildren who loved me from day one.

I leave behind five aunts (Ester, Doris, Geraldine, Barbara and Cheryl) and three uncles (Willie, Joseph and Donald) and a host of extended family members. I cannot acknowledge all, but I would like to acknowledge my other brothers, William "Chico" McConico, Ramon Smith and Barry Pannell. I thank God for mother Ethel who prayed for me and called me daily. To my other buddies, you know who you are and what you meant to me. I love you all.
