August 20, 1936 ~ January 12, 2024 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Alto Baker Obituary

Alto Baker, affectionately known as Bug, was born on August 20, 1936, in Brundidge, Alabama to Jeff Parker Baker (Tit) and Alma Martin Baker. His early years were spent working in the fields alongside his parents. In 2956, he found lifelong love with Mattie Baker, and together, they embraced the joys and challenges of raising a family. Alto and Mattie's journey led them to Detroit, Michigan, in 1968, where they built a home filled with love.

Alto embarked on a 35-year career at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, starting in 1969 and retiring in 2004. His dedication and hard work left a lasting legacy. Yet, beyond his professional accomplishments, Alto's true essence shone in the simple joys of life----working in the yard, sharing stories on the porch, and relishing the company of family.

He was a devoted family man, cherishing his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Alto's love knew no bounds and his generosity was unparalleled. He had a strong spirit unafraid to express himself and his candid nature brought both laughter and memorable moments.

On January 14, 2024, Alto peacefully made his transition, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. He is survived by his loving wife, Mattie of 67 years, his sons Altoney Baker and the late Rayon Baker, daughters Teresa Matthews (Chris Matthews), Patricia Baker (Wesley Bryant), and Tracy Roseborough (Gerald Roseborough). Alto is also remembered by three sisters, three brothers, four siblings precede him in death, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, 4 brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, and nephews.

As we bid a farewell, we celebrate Alto's life and the enduring impact he had on all who were fortunate to know him. Until we meet again, Long Live Alton (Bug) Baker...
