Willie Whitlow Obituary

Willie Mae Whitlow was born to the late William Henry and Elsie Ann (Wright) O'Neal on July 9, 1929 in Dublin, Georgia. She moved to Inkster, Michigan with her family at an early age and was educated in the Inkster Public Schools, graduating 1974. Willie Mae accepted Christ and worshipped at First Baptist, Second Baptist and Holy City Missionary Baptist Churches in Inkster. She met Woodrow Whitlow Sr. and they were united in holy matrimony on January 5, 1948. This marriage lasted for over 51 years until Woodrow's death on November 15, 1999. Four children--- William, Linda, Jacqueline, and Woodrow Jr.,----were born to this union.

Willie Mae was known throughout the Inkster Community for her love of family and friends, her cooking and willingness to feed anyone who either wanted or needed a meal, her generosity, and her fun-loving spirit. She enjoyed crocheting, macrameing, sewing, gardening, canning, and other hobbies.

Willie Mae was employed at Annapolis and Wayne County General Hospitals in several capacities until her retirement. After her work career, she loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed a special fondness for and bond with her grandchildren and great grandchildren until she departed this life. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elsie O'Neal; husband, Woodrow Whitlow Sr; son, William O'Neal; daughter, Jacqueline Whitlow, sister; Lucille Hankerson, and grandson, Antwan Whitlow.

Willie Mae leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Linda Donald (Freddie) of Menifee, Arkansas; one son, Dr. Woodrow Whitlow Jr. (Michele) of Cleveland, Ohio, one sister, Ruby Beckham (Samuel deceased), and brother, Thomas O'Neal (Fannie), of Inkster, Michigan; six grandchildren, Arshrainn Cole (Joe deceased) of Stockbridge, Georgia, Mia Whitlow of Inkster, Michigan, Mary Whitlow (Hermon Thomas) of St. Petersburg, Florida, Oak Stephen Summers of Chicago, Illinois, Albert White of Inkster, Michigan, and Natalie Whitlow (Jahmil Johnson) of Strongsville, Ohio; 16 great grandchildren, Javin, Beyounka, Jajuan, Jamayca, Ashante, Shaywan, Asia, Jarvis, Alexis, JaColby, Nyjah, Nyjel, Annessa, Chandler, Aleara, and Woodrwo; five great great grandchildren; three special loved ones, Pearl Barden, Sharon Tate, and Vivian Jones, and a host of other relatives and friends.
