Velma Joyce Miller-Hairston "VJ" was born June 1, 1951, to Ruby Mae Wiley and Frank "Chico" Toney in Lang, West Virginia.
Velma wore many hats including being called VJ, Mom, granny, Auntie, Sister, Friend, and God-Momma. She was known for her attitude and many dance moves. She was God-fearing woman but did not take any mess. VJ loved many things but Patti Labelle, the casino and James Brown were her favorites.
Velma was preceded in death by one child, Winton "Cat Daddy" Miller, parents, Ruby Mae Wiley and Frank "Chico" Toney and her brother, Kenneth "Crow" Miller.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her daughters, Monica Miller of Atlanta, GA and Anissa Miller-Hairston of Inkster, MI, grandchildren, Iris Charles, LaTisha Miller, Kallante Miller, Devantae Miller and Milton Dallas III; great-grandchildren, Malik and Marquez Winbush, Devante Miller Jr., Kallante Miller Jr., Amier Miller, Lauren Miller, Kameron Miller, and Mason Miller; siblings, Wendell (Markita) Miller, Ralph (Susan) Miller, Cynthia Wilson, and Cadarius Miller all of Charleston, WV; three extended sisters, Debbie Green, Darlene Looney, and Elizabeth Bennett; two special girlfriends, Evonne Moore and Brenda Walters of Inkster, MI; one incredibly special friend, Leon Franklin; God-Children, Sharon Dice and Tanika Hill both of Charleston, WV, Michael Bennett and LaTosha James of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
