Tommie Eugene Alexander Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Tommie "DD" Alexander Sr., 85, of Taylor, Michigan, beloved husband to Letha Pearl Alexander (nee Hatcher), passed away surrounded by loved ones after a complicated battle with prostate cancer on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Tommie was born on October 19th, 1936, in Sandy Hook, Mississippi to Cornelia and Scott Alexander. Him and Letha Pearl met as kids in school and were married on October 21,1936 and went on to have 9 kids: Sandra, Randy, Cynthia, Stanley, Tommy Jr., Angie, John, Kyle and Dwight. Tommie worked for the United Postal Service when him and his family lived in Chicago, but then they moved to Detroit where he worked for Ford Motor Company then on to Complete Auto. One thing we knew for sure is that he was very comfortable behind the wheel, which earned him another nickname, "Roadrunner", since he was hauling cars before he eventually retired in 2006. For those of you that had the privilege of knowing Tommie, we all know how big of a loss this is. He was always so happy and rarely without a smile upon his face. We will never forget his stories that almost always brought you to tears from laughing so hard or going upstairs to see him playing his video game (or watching a Western) nor will we forget walking into Blues music playing loudly or him playing his harmonica. Tommie is predeceased by his parents, his siblings Georgia May, DC, Essie Mae, and grandson Anthony. He is survived by his wife, Letha Pearl, their 9 children Sandra, Randy, Cynthia, Stanley, Tommy Jr., Angie, John, Kyle and Dwight, his sister Maxie and brother Johnnie, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
