Subrena Matthews Obituary

Subrena Lavette Matthews was born on May 21,1966, in Detroit Michigan to the late Andrew and Darnetha Matthews. She was the middle child of three born to this union. Her older brother Wallace Matthews. Also her baby sister Hattie Matthews who proceeded her in death.

Subrena accept Christ at an early was baptized at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in 1978 under the leadership Dr. TC Spann. Subrena gained her devotion and love for church from the Grandmother Oretha Guess, who was her Idol and inspiration. She also proceeds her in death. Subrean received her education in Inkster, Michigan under the Inkster Public Schools. Proof of the drive and determination would show at an early age. Despite giving birth to her only child Eugene "Dujuan" at the age of 16 as a junior in high school she still persevered and graduated on time. One of the things she was most proud of and chanted the most was being a Class of "84" Inkster Viking. She furthered her education in North Little Rock Arkansas at Shorter College where she pursued an Associate's Degree in Business Management. She was only one semester away from graduating before becoming ill and moving back to Michigan to be with her loved ones and many friends.

Subrena was a hard worker and a go getter. She stated working full time as a teenage and always kept at least 2 jobs. She worked for over 20 years in the mental health field retiring as an administrator from Rainbow Rehabilitation. She took advantage of early retirement by traveling and living life to the fullest.

Subrena affectionately known as "Peaches" for her sweet nature, touched the lives of many. Everyone she came in contact with loved her and her infectious personality made it hard to forget her. If she called you her friend she made sure you felt like family. She helped whoever she could. She gave many of her friends and family jobs, most of them their first job.

Subrena was a member of the Inkster Cobras M.C. and was known as Mz. Cobraette by her club brothers and sisters. She loved her club and its members like her own family.

Subrena made her peaceful transition on Sunday, February 2, 2020. She leaves this life to be cherished and celebrated by her son Eugene (Ebony); HusbandJeffrey; Her niece's and nephews that she raised as her own kids, Jajuan, Darnetha, Tameka, Janeka, and Deandre; Her brothers Wallace, Antonio and Andrew. Grandkids/(Nana's babies) Tameisha, Kevin, Subrena, Ortez, Tamiyah, Jaylen, Rosyln, Jamel, Justin, James, Jade, Justice, Jaview, Aria, Adrian, Jujuan Jr., Majesty and Royale; 2 nieces Caletha and Shanetha; He God sister Kim Wells; God Kids Deandre, Kevin, Kyla, Patrick Jr. and Darius. 3 Foster Sons Claudius, Jean-Claude and Tyrone. She has many people that she called friends but these few held a special place. Demetra, Stacy, Wendy, Bard, Alberta, Rahz, Lisa and Theresa. The entire Vikings Class of 84 and The Inkster Cobras and a host of other friends and relatives.
