Sheria Holdsclaw Obituary
Sheria Anette Holdsclaw was born to James and Garnett Holdsclaw on October 11, 1950 in Oklahoma. Her father was stationed there when Sheria was born, but was discharged shortly after her birth. Upon being discharged from the army, the family moved to Michigan where her father obtained work at General Motors Corporation.
Sheria had her only child, a son named Michael, shortly after graduating high school. She furthered her education at Wayne State, obtaining a degree in social work. She was a social worker for thirty-one years before retiring to spend more time with her son and grandchildren. Sheria dearly loved her parents, her son, and spending time with her family.
Shortly after retirement, Sheria was diagnosed wit cancer, which she beat, only for it to come back, metastasizing to her lungs. Once again she beat it, and again it came back a third time. This time the cancer attacked her brain leaving her weak and she couldn't fight any longer; that was the only way this thing called cancer won. The Good Lord, seeing how much pain she was in, and on June 19, 2019, Sheria entered the gateway to eternal rest and peace.
Sheria leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Michael; five grandchildren, Ryoji, Shawn, Alex, Travaughn, and Michael; great grand daughter, Kaia; sisters; Janet, Deborah and Raquel; brothers, James, Danny, and Wahdel, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
