Rubbie Davis Obituary

Rubbie Lee Davis was born May 12, 1953 in Silver City, Mississippi to loving parents Richard C. Battle and Rose Mable Battle.

Rubbie graduated from Detroit Public Schools. In 1985, she obtained an Associated Degree with Honors in Applied Arts in Computer Information Technology, from Highland Park Community College. She and her husband George were self-employed and held a contract with the United States Postal Service.

Rubbie, "Scoobie Doo" as she was affectionately called was a loving and giving person. At times she placed the needs of others above her own. She was spiritually guided with the Lord as her co-pilot. Her faith in her creator never waivered. She called on the Lord until the end. She had an adventurous nature and loved to travel extensively throughout the United States. Only her love for her God and her family superseded it. Rubbie loved beautiful things, which she surrounded herself with. Among them were the arts and good music. She was an excellent host and enjoyed entertaining, which she did often. She was a member of the Riverfront Conservancy and could be seen on any given day, strolling along the waterway. In addition, she was a passionate and avid walker, who also loved and embraced life. Her presence and the power of her love will be missed.

The world is better because she lived........

Rubbie passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at home with her family in attendance after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her parents, Richard C. and Rose Mable Battle, preceded her in death along with her cherished sister Dorissteen Thompson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her sister Dorothy Mae Hall; brother, Richard Calvin Battle, Jr.,; nieces, Rosemary and Arielle Battle; nephews, Jovon and James Battle and Damien Richardson; a devoted friend, Myrnise Humphrey; a grand nephew who brought her much joy and laughter, entertainment and love, Ameir Battle-Evans and a host of other nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
