Richard James McKibbens was born February 11, 1957, the ninth child of Mattie Pearl Christian and the third child of Emmett Lee McKibbens, both whom proceeded him in death. Richard was delivered by his Aunt Mary Sue Houston on a cold stormy night at home.
Richard also known as Ricky, accepted God at an early age. Ricky attended the Detroit Public Schools.
In the words of his sister Petie, "Ricky was a Jack of all Trades and a Master of None." He loved working with his hands and would be seen throughout the neighborhood, laying roofs, shoveling snow, moving furniture and cleaning. Whatever you needed help with, Ricky was more than eager to assist.
On the morning of April 14, 2019, Ricky suddenly made his transitioned at the Beaconshire Nursing Center in Detroit, Michigan.
He leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing: Two daughters, Precious Simpson and Toni Johnson. Two sisters: Cynthia "Jean" Jordan and Naomi "Pete" (Albert) Heard. One brother, Robert Lee McKibbens. Three grandsons, Samuel Belt, Trevon King and Kingsley Billingsley. One great granddaughter: Kailyn Belt. A dedicated niece Markita (Greg) Harris-Doss. A host of loving nieces and nephews (that affectionately called hi uncle Ricky) as well as cousins and friends too numerous to name. Ricky was proceeded him in death by brothers; George Jerome Houston, Eugene Christian and Roy McKibbens his sisters; Rochelle Christian-Busbee and Leona "Ann" Gaiter, brother-in-laws: Bernard Harris, Don Gaiter Sr., and Cephus Busbee.
