Pearl Childs Obituary

Pearl Mae Childs was the sixth born of eight children to the union of Henry and Fronnie Davis on January 8, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. Her siblings all preceded her in death.

Pearl accepted Christ at an early age, having been baptized by the late Rev. Charles A. Hill at the Hartford Memorial Baptist in Detroit. She was educated in the Inkster Public School system.

Pearl married her husband, Calvin G. Childs on October 18,1941. there were seven beautiful children born to this union. Her husband and five children preceded her in death; Carolyn, Diane, Bernard, Paul and Gaylene.

Pearl was a homemaker, but was employed at various times over her life at Ford Motor Company, Veterans; Hospital, and the Sanders Candy Corporation.

Pearls Childs was a member at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, First Baptist of Inkster, Mission Baptist Church, and Holy City Baptist Church, throughout her long life. In 1979, she joined Beulah Missionary Baptist Church ( currently led by Rev. Kenneth Pierce) where she has remained a faithful member. Mrs. Pearl Childs cheerfully served as Usher Board President for over 40 years at Beulah. She loved being a mentor to her "children" she called them; the junior ushers.

Pearl fancied herself an "Inkster" historian and often delighted her family and friends with stories about "her" town. Outside of her service to Christ, she was affiliated with the Order of the Eastern Star and active with the Friendship Club of Inkster.
