Ola Ree Williams (Mu Dear) was born on September 17, 1917 to Morgan and Mariah Elizabeth (Haines) Williams in Midway, Alabama in the county Conecuh. She was the 7th of 9 children. Ola accepted Christ at an early age at Williams Chapel C.M.E. Church in Midway, Alabama. When she was 5 years old the family moved to Mobile, Alabama where she was educated in the Mobile Public School system, she joined Stewart Memorial C.M.E Church where she served on the Usher Board and she worked at the Brooklyn Air Force Base until it's closing in 1946. Later in 1946 Ola moved to Willow Run, Michigan and continued serving the Lord at Browns Chapel A.M.E Church, Ypsilanti, Michigan where she also joined the Usher Board. She started working as the first black female elevator operator at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor in 1946 to 1981 from where she retired. Ola moved to Inkster, Michigan in 1952 with her daughter Jessie and son-in-law George Shelby Sr., and joined Womack Temple C.M.E church where she again joined the usher board and continued to work faithfully until her health failed. She peacefully transitioned from this world into eternity on November 20, 2019 at Imperial Nursing/Rehabilitation Center at the age of 102. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers, grandchildren; Kevin Shelby, Sheilah Shelby-Birakdar, and George Shelby Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter Jessie Shelby, grandchildren: LeBaron Shelby and Gina Allen, great grandchildren; Chastity (Anthony) White (who tool care of her great grandmother every morning until she entered the hospital) Mariah Tatum, and Kurtis Allen II, great-great grandchildren; Tyler, Brandon, Justin White, Jaylin Tatum, Makia Smith, Kialin Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
