Mary Evelyn Bradley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Evelyn Bradley was born on January 28, 1938 in Red Level, Alabama to her mother, Annie Mae Dibbles, and her father, Woodrow Wilson Butler. As a young teen, Mary would later leave Alabama to come to Detroit, Michigan to live with her father where she attended Detroit Northern Senior High School, and would later graduate in 1957. Following high school, Mary would return to the state of Alabama for a short period of time. While in Alabama, she joined in holy matrimony with James Albert Bradley, Sr. on April 6, 1963. The couple would later return to Detroit, Michigan and during this 40 year union, Mary and James brought forth four children. While living in Detroit, Mary became a member of Tristone Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served on the usher board, and participated in other numerous auxiliaries. In addition, she was employed as a nursing aide, where she served for more than 25 years before she retired. Mary was a great mother who loved being present and supportive in her children’s lives, and made sure to attend all of their school activities and events. She also enjoyed doing many other things such as traveling, spending time with close family, doing word search and crossword puzzles, shopping, and most of all, cooking. Mary went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Mae Dibbles and Woodrow Butler, her husband James A. Bradley Sr., her brother Joe Butler, and two sisters, Eva Mae Welch and Faye Mack. Leaving to cherish her memories are four children, Sheila Ann Bradley, James Albert Bradley Jr., Saundra Dee Bradley, and James Edward Bradley; one brother, Cody Mushatt; five sisters, Sarah Carthon, Susie Byrd, Linda Gantt, Betty Mushatt, and Deborah Mushatt; six grandchildren, Jamira Bradley, Jordan Bradley, Quincy Bradley, Nijaia Bradley-Sims, Lawrence Dixon, and Lauren Dixon, and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends
