Marcella Long

I am writing my own obituary on September 27, 2011. I. Marcella M. Long was born on March 23, 1924 from the union of Queen Esther Minnie and Sank Taylor.

I met and married Sylvester Alonzo Simmons in 1941, who proceeded me in death. From this union five children were born.

I then married Julius Nathaniel Long in 1979 who in 1989 also proceeded me in death. My children Gale Simmons, Kevin (Vanessa) Simmons and Sandra Simmons transitioned prior to my death.

I leave to mourn my two children Lawrence (Myrtle) Simmons and Michael (Barbara) Simmons, my sister Leanna Hicks, my adopted daughters Joann Stephens and Arlene Smith. Over 66 third, forth and fifth generation great-grand and grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews and close friends.

I realize this is not tradition but, this is the way I want it. All my grands know who they are and that I love them all. That is all that matters. I love the Lord, all my family, friends and my People's Community Missionary Baptist Church family. May God bless and keep you all.
