On Friday May 11, 2018 our Heavenly Father called home our beloved, Lemar Murphy Sr., to be at rest and peace in His arms. For as much as we loved, cherished and adored him, He loved him first. Lemar Murphy Sr. was born July 28, 1926 in Camden, Arkansas to the parents of the late Emma Wyrick and the late James Murphy. He was one of seven children.
Lemar accepted the Lord at an early age. He always had a profound understanding of the power of prayer. His faith om God's Holy Word could not be challenged. A loving man, full of Godly wisdom, was affectionately known to his family as "Big Dad".
Lemar served his country in the United states Army and served overseas in France and Germany during World War II. Upon his return, on February 9, 1944. he was united in marriage to Dorothy Brodnax and to this union ten children were born.
Lemar was an extremely hard working man. As a result, he worked multiple jobs at one time to support his family. He worked at and owned a dry cleaners, a store and a restaurant. He retired from NBD (National Bank of Detroit) and Ford Motor Company.
Lemar was a pillar of the community. He received great joy from being able to help others in need. He was a Mason, Boy Scout Leader, Deacon, and Superintendent of Sunday at Mission Baptist Church. He also served as a Deacon at Pilgrim Travelers Missionary Baptist Church.
