Harvey Sharpley Obituary
Harvey Lloyd Sharpley was born on April 26, 1929 to the late Curtis and Blanche Sharpley. He was the youngest of seven children.
Harvey was educated in the Alabama Public School System, where he graduated in 1946. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country during the Korean War. After receiving an honorable discharge, Harvey attended the Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama and from there he began working at Wayne County General Hospital as an attendant. He later became self-employed when he and his business partner, who later became his brother-in-law, Wilfred Williams, started J.G.S. Haulage. This business endeavor is where he met the love of his life, Lorrell Tolbert.
Harvey and Lorrell were married on April 9, 1971. This union was blessed with a loving son, Terrance "Terry" Sharpley. Harvey was a devoted and caring father to his only child.
Harvey attended The Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Westland, Michigan, where he dedicated his life to the Lord in service to the church. He enjoyed working with the Project Compassion Ministries caring for and transporting seniors and nursing home residents to and from special activities.
Preceding Harvey in death were his wife, Lorrell; parents, Curtis and Blanche; brothers, William, Curtis Jr., and Ira, sisters, Gwendolyn and Elizabeth.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted son, Terrance; his loving and caring sister, Carolyn (Narvelous); his sister-in-law, Shirley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
