Geraldine Griggs Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Geraldine Bowden entered the world on September 3, 1941 to Alberta and Robert Bowden of Inkster, Michigan. Geraldine was the fourth of seven children. Preceding her in death were siblings, Janie Mase Brown, Robert, Larry, Roger, Shearline and William Bowden. Left to cherish and mourn her loss is her aunt Fannie Mays of Miami Florida. Geraldine Bowden graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959.Upon graduating from high school, she began her career at Kroger Company as an Order Clerk and retired after twenty-nine years of service. Geraldine first married Richard Medlock, and to this union, three children were born, Catherine, Alberta, and Mark. In addition, to this union an extended family would form adding Carolyn, Richie, Angail, Nianga, Khalid, Taheedah, and Mama Jackie Muhammad. Geraldine would later marry Joel Griggs, adding step son Andre Griggs to the family. She was the matriarch of the family! When time permitted, Geraldine would enjoy hobbies including sewing and reading. Geraldine enriched the lives of her grandchildren, Qiana, Ta'Darius, Darrlynn, Mark, Jr., Izeina and DaKari; Daughter-in-law, Althea Medlock; nephews, John Brown, Larry Bowden, Jeff Brown, Bobby Bowden (deceased), Robert Ward, Michael Bowden and Anthony Williams, niece, Tracy Holmes (deceased) and Denise Bowden; sister-in-law, Beverly Bowden and Loretta Bowden (deceased. She leaves to treasure her memory, a host of family members and friends. Special blessings to Shirley VanPelt, Betty Rogers, Carrie Logan and Dorothy Watkins.
