Florence Beckom Obituary
Florence Beckom was born to Reginald and Lula Olds on April 3, 1926 in Benton, Alabama. Both parents preceded her in death.
Florence is also preceded in death by her siblings: 6 sisters: Lula Bell, Mary, Janie, Willie Mae, Louise and Mary Frances; 4 brothers: Reginald, James, John and Augustus.
In 1941 she united in holy matrimony to Dave Givan, who preceded her in death. To that union 6 children were born, 5 children preceded her in death: Joe Givan, David Givan, James Arthur Givan, Clemon Givan and Emma Galloway.
In 1967 she married Elder Eddie Beckom no children born to this union. She and Eddie raised her 4 little grandchildren: Elaine, Niecy, Ray and Don. She later raised her little grandson, Tory.
Florence accepted Christ at an early age and was ordained as a minister in her early 20s.
Mother Beckom was known for her gift of prophecy.
She loved preaching, teaching, praying, evangelizing. You could often find her in the kitchen while cooking, humming, singing, testifying and talking about the goodness of Jesus.
Her love for God and knowledge of scriptures were admired by many. She took great joy in reading her Bible and listening to good gospel music. Some of her favorites are: "I'm Coming Up on the Rough Side of the Mountain" and "If You Can't Help Me Please Don't Stop Me."
Mother Beckom peacefully departed this life on Thursday, June 4, 2021 at 1:30am in her home surrounded by family.
She leaves to cherish her memory: 1 daughter, Bobie Daniels of Farmington Hills, MI; daughters-in-law, Eunice Givan and Berta Givan; 19 grandchildren, Elaine (Charles) Flowers, Niecy, Ray, Kim, Tamara, Mark, Brian, Lewanna, Tory, Kisha, Tiffany, Jackie, Eric, Erica, Ann, Michael, Octavia, Prentice and Latisha; 4 grandchildren preceded her in death: Thomas, Terrance, Don and Bernestine; 44 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
