    Ernestine Buchanan

    July 26, 1939 - July 24, 2020

    Ernestine Buchanan was born July 26, 1939 to Ulysses and Pasteria Buchanan in Tuskegee, Alabama. Ernestine was affectionately known as "Stine". Stine accepted the Lord as a teenager and was baptized at St. Clement's Episcopal Church. Ernestine attended Inkster High School. Stine went to study and attend Oakland Community College then Ann Arbor Education for Nursing. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and worked in nursing homes as well as St. Joe Mercy where she later retired. Stine was a special person and aunt in her nieces and nephews lives. Stine never complained, always smiling. Stine leaves relatives and friends to cherish her memories, including her sister Lillie Broadnax. She was preceded in death by Louise Jiles, Frank Buchanan, Gene Buchanan, Ulysses Buchanan Jr., Michael Buchanan, and her parents, Pasteria and Ulysses Buchanan Sr. Stine leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews with great memories. They loved her so much and loved spending time with her. Over the years, Stine and Lillie's relationship proved eternal. Stine resided in Botsford (Beaumont) Commons for over twenty years. She was admired and loved by many there at the Commons and they echoed, "She will be missed." She was a mentor and help many of residents there. Stine loved music, different genres, spirituals, R&B, and even rap. She loved to wine and dine at nice elegant restaurants. Stine was a class act. She always dressed elegantly and loved wearing her jewelry. She was beautiful. Stine would always light up a room when she entered with her amazing personality.
