Upon his return, Duschon took interest in basketball where he was immediately moved from Junior Varsity to Inkster High School's varsity basketball team. While attending IHS he met Ruby Hampton, having two children Sheri Hampton and soon after Duschon Alonzo Stanton Jr. Prior to graduating with Inkster High's Class of 1984, Duschon became very well known for his talent and vibrant spirit that could full any room.

Before retiring, Duschon married Vitina Gipson, having two children: Shania and Jayvon Stanton. Duschon was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family whenever he could. Duschons' love for basketball followed him into his adulthood and he would keep you up all night watching a game if you let him. He would arrive fashionably late for holidays with love and a headache in hand because he loved his family so much.
