Derale Mayes Obituary
DERALE ANTHONY MAYES was born to the union of Juanita Tolbert Mayes and Andrew Derale Mayes on June 12, 1985 in Dallas, Texas. Later, Derale moved to Detroit, Michigan with his family where he worshiped at the New Liberty Apostolic Faith Church. Derale was baptized in the name of Jesus at an early age under the leadership of his father at Faith Temple Apostolic Faith Church in Decatur, Illinois and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost.
He started his education in the public school system in Decatur, Illinois. He then attended MacArthur High School which was also in Decatur, Illnois, Derale later graduated from Makenzie High School through the Detroit Public School System. While in Detroit, Derale enrolled and studied the Culinary Arts at Breithaup Technical Center. He also attended Wayne County Community College and later studied Criminal Justice and Marketing at the University of Phoenix.
If you knew Derale, you would know that he loved God and nature. If you really knew Derale, you would know that he was an avid reader and loved music as well as food. If there was any fruit that was his favorite, it would be grapes and he loved candy but his all time favorite had to be Twizzlers. As he loved music, his favorite song was Mary Did You Know. Derale was a true debater. He had an opinion on every subject, and of course his opinion was the accurate and correct one. Derale was gainfully employed by CST Brands Inc. in San Antonio, Texas and was later employed at Direct TV in Phoenix, Arizona where he remained until his health began to fail.
He leaves to cherish his memory; His parents, Elder Andrew & Evangelist Juanita Mayes; one sister, DeShandra C. Mayes; two brothers, DeVon LaMar Mayes, and DeAndra' Elijah Mayes. His grandparents, Harthaway Tolbert Jr., Clara Tolbert (preceded him in death), Evangelist Louise Fletcher, Ernest A. Mayes (preceded him in death). Three Aunts, Ernestine Solomon, Deborrah Mayes, and Vivian Tolbert. Seven Uncles, James Solomon, Jerry Tolbert, Terry Tolbert, Harthaway Tolbert III (preceded him in death). Nelson Tolbert, Steve Tolbert, Joseph Tolbert, and a host of great uncles & aunts, cousins, family and friends.
