Denise LeDoux Obituary

Denise Elaine Beanum LeDoux was born September 7, 1946, the fifth child to the late Eddie and Lydia (O'Neal) Beanum. Preceding her in death, were her only three brothers, Alex Henry, Earl Richard, and Arthur Allen, as well as her niece Kimberly Antoinette Beanum Coleman.
Denise graduated high school in 1964 with Honors from Romulus Senior High School. She furthered her education at Eastern Michigan University. While attending, she met a wonderful group of ladies in 1967. She crossed into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with the "Mighty 21", following in her cousin Odahlia Ledford Rance's footsteps. Two of her nieces followed her into Delta land, LaTanya Beanum, and Kim Toni Beanum Coleman. She graduated in 1969, earning her bachelor's degree in Education. She further continued her education and earned her master's degree in Education in 1973.
After graduation, she sought employment as a schoolteacher for Van Buren Public Schools and began teaching in 1969 while working towards her master's degree. She was the very first black teacher at Belleville High School. There she remained until her retirement.
In 1973, she met the love of her life and future husband, Alexander R. LeDoux, jr. They wed in August 1975, and to their union, one daughter was born, Adria Marie. However, before the birth of their daughter, Al and Denise began their parenting journey with their nephew, Earl Richard Beanum II.
Since childhood, Denise has been an avid reader and has had at least two books in progress at any given time. She was a very accomplished seamstress who made everything from 3-piece suits to quilts to evening gowns and Halloween costumes. She was also an extremely talented baker and made homemade birthday cakes for her nieces and nephews, coconut cakes every Christmas, caramel cakes for her daughter's birthdays, German chocolate cake and homemade ice cream for her husband's birthdays.
Denise was a lot of things to many people. She maintained fiercely loyal friendships with numerous people she became close to over her lifetime. She had many who considered her a sister in addition to her biological sisters. Denise was the most selfless person you would have ever known. She had the purest heart and taught us all about faith. She was an amazing woman who was beautiful both inside and out. God granted her greatest wish when Asher was born.
Precious memories of Denise will forever be cherished by her husband, Alexander (Al); her daughter and son-in-love, Adria and Nicholas (Nick) Cohen; her grandsons, Elijah (Eli) and Asher (Mr. Cutie) Cohen; her godsons, Junior Culbreath, Stacian Gray, and Justin Alexander Beanum; her sisters, Eddie Marie Beanum Butler, Judith Ann Beanum, and Charlotte Anita Beanum Seay; nephews, John Beanum (Alison), Earl (Richie) Beanum, and Alton (Trei) Seay; nieces, LaTanya Beanum, Felicia Beanum Hinrichs (Harold), Arvian Beanum Harper (Marcus), and Vienna Beanum Singleton (Paul). She also leaves behind 13 great nieces and nephews. In addition to a host of close cousins, relatives, and friends, she leaves behind a 100-year-old Aunt, Clara Beanum Williams.

"I fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
