Delilah McCray was the fifth child born to Tom and Elsie Martin Hunter, in Faunsdale Marengo County, Alabama, on April 11, 1931.
Delilah graduated from Thomaston High School in Thomaston, Alabama. She lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a short time and eventually moved to Columbus, Ohio. Delilah was employed at Ohio State University Hospital as a nurse's aide for fifteen years.
She recalled hearing God's name from her grandmother who was also one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but it was only after moving to Columbus, Ohio that she began a serious study of God's word. Thereafter, in the summer of 1958 at the "Divine Will International Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses" in New York City, she dedicated her life to her God Jehovah. Delilah was faithful to her dedication and aided many family members in the truth. As often as she was able, she auxiliary pioneered. Her family never tired of hearing her many experiences in the ministry. She loved and was loved by all in any congregation she associated with.
Delilah was married to her devoted husband, Tom J. McCray for forty-two years. They enjoyed traveling, camping and just being together. They were together until the end as Tom was her sole caretaker throughout her declining years.
Delilah made her Transition on March 11, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Elsie Hunter and brothers, Abarjah and Luke Hunter.
