David Williams
July 20, 1953 - February 14, 2021
David Bernard Williams, the youngest of two children, was born on July 20,1953, to Johnnie and Willie-Mae Williams. Growing up in the Christian home, David professed his faith in God at an early age. He had a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Michigan University in music education. He was a band teacher in Inkster Public Schools for thirty years. he lived and breathed music. When he went outside, his jazz music would accompany him. For many years, he played his saxophone with his friends and enjoyed every minute of it. He played in churches and special ceremonies. You might call him "The Music Man." David enjoyed his family tremendously. When his family would enter the room, his face would light up. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend. David was a quiet person, but with his friends, his crew, and close neighbors, he would laugh and joke continuously. When you became a part of his realm, he was a loyal, faithful and caring friend. There are no words to express the loss we all feel, but as he would say when closing a conversation. "I'll get back with you." So as we say goodbye, we remember that it's not goodbye, it's a laugh and a "we'll get back with you." David made his transition on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Preceding him in death were his parents, Johnnie and Willie-Mae Williams; older brother, John Cornell Williams and oldest son, David Lumpkin. David leaves to mourn, his devoted wife, Tyra Williams; children, Nehemiah Williams and Dayra Williams; sister-in-law, Karen Williams; nephews and nieces, Julian and Jamia Williams, Jahmal and Regina Williams and Josh Williams; grandchildren, Devieon, David, December and Genae.
