Cleveland Byous Obituary
Cleveland Byous was born to Simon and Effie C. Jiles Byous in Cleveland, Mississippi. He grew up surrounded by his loving siblings; Elizabeth, Bossie, Annie, Leola, Simon, Abraham, and cousins; Jessie and James Byous.
Cleveland accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. Cleveland was educated in the Tensas Parish Training School in Louisiana. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Steward G Third Class during WWII and the Korean War for a total of 8 years, 3 months, and 6 days. He was Honorably Discharged on the 19th day of February 1953 and awarded the National Defense Medal.
In 1948, he married his sweetheart Barbara Mills Byous. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Bernetta M., Paul L., and Lawrence V. Byous.
Cleveland Byous was employed as a machinist at General Motors for 37 years. While employed at his full time job, he owned and operated his own cleaners. After retiring, he worked at various cleaners in Inkster, Westland, and Livonia, Michigan. He was nicknamed the "Energizer Bunny". Mr. Cleveland Byous was very loving, kind, and generous to his family and to everyone he met.
In his spare time he enjoyed long walks while praying, singing gospel songs, watching old black and white movies, and reading his daily newspaper.
On Sunday October 27th, 2019 our devoted Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother, and Friend made his transition at Oakwood Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan. He is survived by his children; Bernetta M. Evans, Paul L. Byous, Faye Dino of California and Lawrence V. Byous of Michigan. His grandchildren' Nesa, Dani, Sarah, and Paul Jr., his loving and deoted caregiver Meisha Byous. Great grandchildren; Ziaza, Tajallah, London, Skyler, and Harper. Brother and sister-in-law; Simon (Teresa) Byous of Arkansas, Sister-in-law Gerry Byous of California, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
