Life Story
On July 16, 1922, Clara Louise Finch was born to Elder Frank and Elder Annie B. Dysart in Birmingham, AL. Clara attended Birmingham Public Schools and graduated from Parker High School in 1940. Clara was joined in holy matrimony to Henry Finch and enjoyed over 40 years of marriage until his death in 1982. As a result of this union, they were blessed with five children.
Clara accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She was a long and faithful member of Springhill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend E. F. Lee. Later moving to South Haven, MI, she joined Kibbie Community Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Henry Goins and was ordained a Deaconess on September 7, 2003. She remained a member of Kibbie Community Church until her departure.
For over 30 years, Clara worked at Kmart, as a supervisor, in the lamp department. She was an outstanding seamstress and passed down her love for sewing to her son and daughters. In addition to her love for arts and crafts, Clara loved to travel. She has sailed the islands of the Caribbean, flown to cities in Europe & Japan, and dipped her toes in the waters of Hawaii. Clara was a wonderful mother and role model to all.
"Nana", as she was called by those who loved her, went on to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, August 24, 2018. She is preceded in death along with her parents, Husband - Henry Finch, Sister - Beatrice Freeman, Daughter - Jacqueline (Fred) Adams, and Son - Clarence (Deloris) Finch. She leaves to forever cherish her memory: two Sisters - Sandra Motley Cook and Janis (Andrew) Jackson, Son - George (Tanya) Finch along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
