Cheryl Binion Obituary
Cheryl Annette Binion, affectionately known as "Polly" of "Itsy" was born October 10, 1954 in Inkster, Michigan to Henry and Darnell Binion. Cheryl was the fifth of nine children. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Robert "Bob" Strozier, sisters Juanita Strozier and Jacquelyn Harper, and the love of her life Anthony "Lynn" Gray. Cheryl transitioned from this life to glory and reward on April 14,2020.
Cheryl received her formal education in the Taylor School District. She graduated from Taylor Center High School in 1972. Cheryl completed some coursework at Eastern Michigan University. Shortly after, she began her career with the Internal Revenue Service. Cheryl held various positions within the IRS and retired after 34 years in 2006.
Cheryl, LOVED THE LORD! She accepted Christ at a very early age. Cheryl was a member of the Cathedral of Faith church in Detroit, MI. She was a member of the Voices of Cathedral and was also the church administrator until her health failed. Moreover, Cheryl served at the Obedient Missionary Baptist church of Detroit, MI for many years. One of her favorite things to do was to sing her favorite hymns before she shared the announcements on Sundays.
Cheryl lent a helping hand to anyone who cross her path. Whether it be to do your taxes, give your a word of encouragement, or feed you. She loved people and she loved her family; especially her daughter Ashley. She was extremely proud of her daughter and her accomplishments.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter and son-in-love Ashley and Biggs, grandson Buddha, sisters Cynthia Binion of Westland, MI; Willese Fuller of Beaumont, CA; Alyce Binion of Westland, MI; Audrey Binion of Inkster, MI; brother Bruce Binion of Dallas, TX; dearest friend Jamesetta Steward of Detroit, MI; a special 2nd daughter Rita Burnett of Detroit, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
