August 24, 1955 - August 22, 2019
Betty J. Ball was born August 24, 1955 in Anniston, Alabama to James L. Ball Sr. and Johnnie Mae Ball. Both of Betty's parents preceded her in death. Betty was educated in the Inkster Public Schools and graduated in 1973 from high school. She went on to study cosmetology becoming the first graduate of the program in 1975. Betty had a strong work ethic. She would always make sure she knew the latest styles and was not ashamed to train or teach others to assist them with their craft. She would even plan trips and go out of town to hair shows to advance all her skills to be the best hair stylist she could be. Betty loved music especially jazz, Al Jarrau was her favorite artist. It broke her heart when Tupac died too, but she always had her own theory and felt he was still alive. Betty loved her family with all of her being. There was nothing she would not do to help them or encourage them to be successful. She loved spending time with all her nieces and nephews (whom were her kids too) and showered them with love. Family gatherings were one of her favorite things and laughing while having fun eating and talking to each member of her family. Betty was active in her community and gave hand in any way she could. She was on the Board of Directors of National Christians in Action. Even though Betty didn't plant her feet firmly in a particular church building, it didn't prevent her learning about God. She loved God and enjoyed reading her bible avidly. She always seemed to have challenging question for you to think about. Betty supported many churches at their concert events or services. You could always find her at Pleasant Valley A.M.E Church for most of their special events. Betty was preceded in death by he sisters: Janet and Pamela. Her memory will be cherished by all of those that loved her, siblings: Jessie Porter (Edward), Barbara Howard (Charles), James L. Ball Jr., Jeffery Ball and Tanya "Peaches" Ball; a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved all as her own; one uncle Eddie Jordan, her special cousin Patsy and a multitude of friends and hair clients who loved her dearly.
