Arie Hodge Obituary

Arie Ruth Hodge, was born to the late Shed Sr. and Josephine Crenshaw on October 29, 1929 in Wetumpka, Alabama. She was the six of eight children, who all proceeded her in death. Arie graduated from Elmore County High School. From there, she attended Elmore County Beauty School. We could always depend on her for a fresh hair do on the weekend.
Arie moved o Michigan in 1953. Upon her arrival, she met and married James Williams and within that union, a baby boy was born, but lived a very short life.
A excepted Christ at an early age under the guidance of her devoted mother. She became a member of People's Community Baptist Church under the Pastorage of Rev. Hearn, where she was a member of the Usher Board, a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Adult Choir. She later became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church under pastorage of the late Dr. Emmett W. Walton. After years of service there, her final church home was Romulus Community Baptist Church, under the pastorage of the late Rev. Ned Copeland. Here she served as a member of the Mother Board, the Willing Workers and Mothers Aide. She was the Emertius Standing and President of Pastor's Aide and also served in the Food Ministry. She served coffee for many Sundays after Sunday School and passed out peppermints to everyone. It was at the Romulus Community Baptist Church, she met Robert Hodge and they were united under holy matrimony on February 4, 1996 by Rev. Hiram McBurrows.
Arie lived a life full of love and righteousness. She loved cooking and held several restaurant positions. After becoming an employee at United Airlines she later went back to her love for cooking by working at Mary Crest Manor as a cook until her retirement.
Arie had a very caring heart and she loved her family unconditionally. She found joy in taking care of them when they needed her and she was always willing to make everything alright. We could always count on her to make her famous macaroni and cheese and peach cobbler without having to ask.
She had so much fun with her nieces and nephews by taking them to Edgewater Park and having Friday night sleepovers, with the French fries.
Arie had a faith so strong that despite whatever may have been going on she made sure to devote her Sunday to giving praise to her heavenly father, who was the head of her life. Her presence here on Earth
will truly be missed. Arie departed her life on May 23, 2022 at Annapolis Beamont Hospital.
