Andrea Green Obituary

ANDREA "ANDRE" GABRIEL GREEN was born on May 25, 1971 to Byron Young, Jr. and Mollie M. Green in Detroit, Michigan. He was trained up in the way of the Lord by his mother and under the leadership of Missionary Georgia Jackson. As a result, he continued to give honor to the Lord throughout his life. He later joined New Birth Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joseph A. Stephens, to worship with his soon-to-be wife, Sonseearay.

Andre was educated within the Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Cody High School in 1990. After working a series of jobs, including Henry Ford Hospital with his sister, Lisa, Andre began his career at Ford Motor Company on January 3, 1995. He loved his job, so much that he continuously excelled, climbed the ranks, and was appointed to be the company's International United Auto Worker (UAW) Representative. Even when he was not at work, his mind never stopped thinking of ways to make production more efficient and cost effective, and to make the environment more company gratifying and UAW union appropriate. He was recognized for his service at the Local 900 and Black Men in Unions Institute. He was also recognized by Ford Motor Company's Michigan Truck Plant, any many others for his diligence both at work and in the community. He considered many of his colleagues to be family, but he was proud to find mentorship and leadership in Jeff Washington and Teddy Holt, who provided the guidance that helped him develop a strong work ethic and a successful career. Yet, he recognized that it was God's grace that kept him throughout the years.

Andre was the proud father of Kenya Goldsby, who was born in 2010 in Barlette, TN. In 2014, after a fulfilling courtship, Andre expanded his family as he joined Sonseearay Butler in Holy Matrimony. He also became a bonus father to Alexis Whitlow.

Dre, as he was also known, enjoyed music, sports and traveling. He also enjoyed serving the less fortunate by volunteering with the UAW. He also worked with the Wayne County Sheriff's Community Emergency Response Team. In his leisure time, he loved to shop. In fact, his impeccable style can be traced back to his school days, when he donned the freshest apparel daily. He would also go all out for formal events like prom, where he showed up wearing a top hat and vested suit. Later, he developed a love for Ralph Lauren's Polo attire. Yet, it is for his personality that he will be missed, as he lightened the heaviest loads of many on their darkest days with his love and sense of humor.

Andrea transitioned from this Life to Everlasting on Saturday, August 11, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife, Sonseearay Green; his daughters, Kenya Goldsby of Cordova, TN, and Alexis Whitlow; his loving mother, Mollie M. Green; his father, Byron (Glenda) Young, Jr.; four siblings, Annette Green of Carpenterville, IL., Lisa Green, Dion Green and Byron D.(Tammy) Young; his grandfather, Byron Young; his mother-in-law, Stephanie Gray; two brothers-in-law, Shannon Gray of Phoenix, AZ and Stanley Gray; his grandmother-in-law, Judith Clowes; his grandfather-in-law, Bonzell Joins; three aunts, Regina Brown, Angie (Thomas) Harris and Gladys Coleman of Chicago, IL; five uncles, Benjamin (Lottie) Young, Reginald Young, Edward Young, Louis (Christine) Green of Kentucky and Willie C.
