Walter Briggs Obituary

Walter Briggs was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 2, 1948, to Floyd and Annie K. Briggs. Family and friends affectionately knew Walter as "Butch" a name given to him by his grandmother. His early stages of life were spent growing up in Morland, Georgia. In high school he was very active participating in band, football, and his ambition was to be in the Arm Forces. Butch graduated from Central Academy High School in 1965 and on May 31, 1965, he joined the United States Coast Guard in which he served for four (4) years and received an honorable discharge on May 29, 1969.

In the month of September 1969, Butch began working at Ford Motor Company and later that year he married Diane Stokes and out of this union two beautiful daughters; Valerie and Tricina were born. In 190 Butch remarried Donish Howell and out of this union Walter Briggs Jr. a handsome son was born. After 39 years of employment, he retired. During his retirement years, Butch very much enjoyed family life. Butch loved various sports in his life which consisted of fishing, bowling, hunting, boating, travelling, golfing and auto racing.

Butch attended Christ Temple Apostolic Church and became a member under the leadership of the late Elder Samuel B. Ware where he was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost.

Butch loved his family, friends, and loved his children dearly. He was good at making people laugh and always had a great sense of humor.
