Yvonne Rucker

Yvonne (Moner) Rucker was born April 16, 1937 at home on St. Joseph Street in Detroit, Michigan to Johnnie and Ora Lee Moner. She attended Inkster Public Schools and graduated from Inkster High in 1956. Yvonne later met and married Jimmie Rucker of Sardis, Mississippi. To this union were born two girls. Terri Marlene and Oralisa Yvette.

Yvonne accepted Christ at an early age. As a young woman, she was very active in Peoples Community Baptist Church under the leadership of John D. Hearn. She later joined Holy City Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Walter Allen Steen, serving on the nurses' guild for several years. Yvonne attended numerous services at the Amity Baptist Church in Inkster, later joining Consuming Fire Christian Center in Westland under the leadership of Pastor Keith Hudson.

Yvonne loved her family; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, never having the pleasure of meeting her great-great grandson, but loved him still the same. She loved to go to the Kentucky Derby throughout the years; in her later years, watching the Detroit Tigers, going out to eat and going to the Casino were amongst her favorite things to do. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse throughout her work career, serving at Eloise (Wayne County General) Hospital in Wayne County and also the Wayne County Jail in Detroit, Michigan.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her father and mother; Johnnie and Ora Lee Moner; brothers, James, John Jr. (June), Gregory, Frank and Robert. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Thomas Moner (Elizabeth); her sister, Carol Ann Brooks; ex-husband, Jimmie Rucker; children, Anthony Moner, Terri Mitchell and Oralisa Lynn (William); grandchildren, Anthony Collie, Gut Rucker, Sarah Green, Stephanie Mitchell, Alysia Anderson, Pedro Lynn, Tifanie Lynn and William Lynn Jr., step-children, Jimmie Rucker Jr. (Tenecia), Bruce Rucker (Brenda) and CorTina Pernell; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grand along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
