Warren Bonam Obituary

Warren Francis Bonam, Sr. was born to Lorenzo Bonam and Alice May-Bonam of Pascagoula, MS on April 14, 1924. He departed this life on April 11, 2018.

Warren married Sammie Louise Henderson-Bonam on May 5, 1950 in Inkster, Michigan at Holy Family Catholic Church. To this wonderful union were born 11 children upon whom he lavished his love and devoted his life.

He attended St. Peter School in Chastang, Alabama where he was taken under the wing of Father Sabino Grossi who Warren came to know as a father figure. He was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Inkster, Michigan and St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Romulus, Michigan.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army in World War II. Subsequently, he worked as a skilled painter for over 40 years for Wayne County and General Motors. Throughout those years, he shared the knowledge of his trade with his sons, grandsons and nephews.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years, his son Samuel, and his four brothers: Hogan, Albert, Leon and Herbert Bonam.

Warren leaves to cherish his memory: his loving children Warren (Kim) Bonam, Jr., Susan (Darnell) Anderson, (the late) Samuel Bonam, Alice (Lamont) Stone, Sheila (Keith) Godfrey, Phillip (Deborah) Bonam, Ruth (Harry) Hairston, Danielle (David) Crawford, Jamie (Kelly) DeVries, Lonnie (Dawn) Bonam and Paul Bonam; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
