Valarie Meeks Obituary
Valarie Meeks was born April 7, 1956 to the parents of ML and Mary Meeks in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Valarie was educated in Berrien County Schools until she and her family moved to Detroit, MI., where she continued her education.
In 1986 Valarie moved to Atlanta, Georgia and became the mother of one son, Audy Terrell, two years later in 1988; Valarie was a faithful and dedicated mother. In 1992 Valarie began working for the City of Atlanta's Police Department.
While working with the city of Atlanta, Valarie joined the City of Atlanta's police choir, Christians On Patrol (C.O.P.). She became a favorite by Atlanta's then Mayor, Bill Campbell. Valarie Meeks was also the family's favorite soloist, chosen to sing at all family functions; her voice will be missed. Moreover, while in Atlanta, Valarie Meeks joined Greater Rising Star Baptist Church.
Valarie Meeks retired from the City of Atlanta in 2006 and moved back to Detroit in 2012 with her mom and second father, Mary and Isom (Cuz) Thomas until her physical departure.
Valarie Meeks departed this life July 4, 2017 from complications due to cancer. She was preceded in death by her little sister Roshanda Meeks, brother Gregory Meeks, and father ML Meeks. Valarie is survived by her only son, Audy Terrell of Atlanta, Georgia; mom and second father, Mary and Isom Thomas of Westland, Michigan; 4 sisters: Debra Bey of Westland, Michigan; Dollester Meeks of Detroit, Michigan; Pamela Arnold of Atlanta, Georgia; and Lisa (Karl) Varrie of Benton Harbor, Michigan' 4 brothers: Larry Meeks of Benton Harbor, Michigan; Jeffrey Meeks of Atlanta, Georgia; Anthony (Tony) Meeks of Adrian, Michigan; and Tyrone Meeks of Benton Harbor, Michigan; 1 aunt, 3 uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who she loved dearly.
