Rufus "Butch" was born on January 30, 1949, in Detroit Michigan, to the late Ben Thomas and Geneva Reeves. He was the fourth of eight children.
Rufus accepted Christ at an early age. Later his family move to Inkster Michigan and he attended Inkster Public Schools. He graduated from Inkster High School in 1967. Rufus began working at Ford Motor Company in 1969. In 1972, he met the love of his life and with this union three children were born.
Rufus "Butch" was loved by many, he enjoyed and was known for his silly riddles. He also loved working in the yard, grooming his plants and grass. He had a green thumb. He was determined to succeed everyday of his life until his health declined. He would often say: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"!
He leaves to cherish in his memory; three children; Shawn Cofield, Rufus (Shenika) Cofield, and Gloria Teenell Cofield, one Aunt, Eddie Mae Mainor, one sister Gloria Barnes, five grandchildren; A'Shante, K'tonna, R'Mani, Shamar, and Nasir, one great grandson Amarre' and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
