Peter Davenport Obituary

Peter D. Davenport was born July 26th, 1964 in Westland, Michigan to Richard Davenport and the late Hattie Davenport, whose birthday he shared. He was called home on Friday, June 9th, 2017. Peter was the youngest of five siblings. Peter, affectionately known as "Pete", graduated from Inkster Public Schools, where he played football at Inkster High School. He always had a stong work ethic, as his first job was at the age of thirteen as a paperboy. After high school, he began working at the VA Hospital, where he met his wife of 30 years, Lenore Davenport. He was later employed at the Southfield Town Center as a lead maintenance worker for 27 years, where he was a faithful employee. On June 20th, 1987, Pete married his wife, Lenore Davenport. To this union, two children were born, LaTosha and Dwayne. He was a dedicated father who was very involved in his children's lives. He was also an instrumental part in organizing family events where he shared his passion for photography to capture special moments. At an early age, Pete attended Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Westland, Michigan. He later became a faithful member of the church, along with his wife and family, where he served as a Trustee. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and son. He touched many lives with his outgoing personality and uplifting spirit. To many, he was known as "Pete the Rock" because he had a big heart and he was always there for everyone whenever they needed him. Anytime there was a crisis, he was always there, front and center offering advice, support and motivation. He was also very understanding and was known to take the middle-of-the-road while giving advice to make people see both sides of the story. Peter Dwayne Davenport leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Lenore: his children, LaTosha Wells (Lee), and Dwayne Davenport (Emily); grandchildren, Rylee and Keandre; a loving father, Richard Davenport Sr.; brothers, Christopher (Katrina), and Marcus (Bonnie); one sister, Myra; mother-in-law, Gloria Black; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
