Marie Parnell Obituary

Marie Chisholm Parnell was born in Blichton, Florida on September 14, 1933 as the youngest daughter of the late Albert Sr. and Vernell Chisholm.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Mars Hill Baptist Church. She graduated from Howard Academy High School in Ocala, Florida and attended Cleary College, which led her to becoming a nurse's aide at University Hospital.

She moved to Michigan in 1951 and married Johnnie B. Parnell in November 1953. God blessed them with four children: Olivia, Dennis, Clairessa, and John.

She obtained work in a Barber and Beauty Supple store as a clerk. Then gained employment with the United States Postal Service in Inkster, Michigan as a mail carrier, from which she retired after many years of service.

She was always active in church and supported many ministries. She started working in Christian Education as the Sunday School Superintendent at First MBC; St. John MBC as Secretary, and President of the General Mission at New Hope MBC and New Jerusalem MBC. he was also a member of the Metro District Women's Auxiliary.

Marie was preceded in death by Albert and Vernell Chisholm (parents), Dennis (son), Willie Chisholm, Rev. Ezekiel Chisholm, Rev. Jordan Chisholm (brothers), Cathelia Williams, Ida Mae Wiley, Inez Hayes, and Louise Thomas (sisters).

Left to celebrate her life are her daughters; Olivia Johnson and Clairessa Parnell, and son John Parnell (Joyce) of Texas; five brothers; Albert Chisholm of Ypsiltani, MI, Van Chisholm of Detroit, MI, Ozel Chisholm, Walter Chisholm, and Marvin Chisholm of Florida along with seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Grandchildren: Camilyah Buxton (Thomas), George Johnson Jr. (Denise), Jason Johnson (Brandale), Jocelyn, Christopher Tomlinson II (Anna), Nita Wren, and Maria BeLue.

Marie will be greatly missed. But for all of us who are saved, know that on that glorious day when Jesus comes to call us home, we shall all meet once again. On that day it will be forevermore.
